Conscription

The compulsory enlistment of people in a national service is Conscription. The national service is often a military service. Sometimes, Conscription is also called draft.

The modern system national conscription for young men dates to the French Revolution in the 1790s. It helped build up the French army. Conscription is controversial for many reasons. Which includes –
Conscientious objection to military engagements on philosophical or religious grounds;
Political objection, for example to serve an unpopular war or a disliked government;
And ideological objection, for example, to a perceived violation of individual rights.

Later, in peacetime, most European nations copied the system. States that are involved in interstate rivalries or wars are most likely to implement conscription, whereas democracies are less likely than autocracies to implement conscription.  While in countries such as the U.S., the U.K., it is not compulsory. It exists in countries such as the UAE, Myanmar, Mexico and even in the islands of the Netherlands which are constituents of the Kingdom, for example, Aruba and Curacao.
